Support Lucena's Battle Against Aggressive Breast Cancer
Donation protected
My name is Juanita the 15-year-old daughter of a single mother, breast cancer warrior named Lucena Osorio. I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support we have received from so many of you during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness means the world to us.
As many of you know, my mother was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) in July 2024. TNBC is considered to be more aggressive, tends to grow and spread faster than other forms of breast cancer. My mom’s chemotherapy treatments are scheduled every Thursday, and despite the toll they take on her, she somehow manages to return to work each Monday. But after her 10th round of chemotherapy, her body has started to weaken, and it’s become harder for her to recover and return to work as she used to and has exhausted her time off at this point.
We moved to the United States on a work visa two years ago, and since my mom isn’t a resident or citizen, she doesn’t qualify for any assistance, and I am not able to work. Going back to our home country is not an option, as her pre-existing condition would prevent her from getting the necessary job or insurance support she needs.
The costs are overwhelming. Between co-pays and out-of-pocket expenses, we’re looking at more than $10,000 in medical bills each year of 2024 and 2025. My mom still has 3 more months of chemotherapy, surgery, round of radiology in January. These expenses are already adding up, and my mom’s unpaid time off from work only adds to the financial burden
This is where we need your help.
We’re reaching out to our family, friends, and community for support. Please consider donating—whether it’s $5, $10, $20, or $50—every contribution makes a difference. The funds we raise will go directly toward:
Medical expenses: Covering the costs of chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, lab tests, scans, and other treatments not fully covered by insurance.
Unpaid time off: Helping us manage the financial gap created by my mom’s inability to work while undergoing treatment.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my beautiful, brave, and loving mother. We are so grateful for any help you can provide, whether through donations or by sharing this message with others. Your support means more to us than words can express.
With all our gratitude,
Juanita Romero Osorio
