Support Lucea, Jamaica After Hurricane Melissa

Donation protected
Over the 34 years of our cultural immersion program, the community of Lucea, Jamaica, embraced our students, staff, and faculty like family. It was a privilege to share and learn from each other, and the bonds we formed have lasted a lifetime. Although the news coverage has been limited regarding Hurricane Melissa’s impact on Hanover Parish, many communities, including Lucea, have suffered greatly. Whether you traveled with me and our team over the years or are simply moved to support a town that embraced the Hollins community over the decades, I thank you for your consideration.

Hurricane Melissa left many families with damaged homes and without basic necessities. Electricity and running water remained off for an entire month for part of the community while other members have just had their power and running water restored in mid-December. Resources remain limited, and the road to recovery is long. Our friends need whatever assistance we are able to provide directly to them. The funds raised through this campaign will go towards providing temporary relief—essential supplies and resources. Our dear friend, Bev, is currently in the United States with her family, which has made it possible for us to get funds directly to our friends in Lucea.

If you want to support a community that has given so much to others, your contribution will make a meaningful difference. Thank you for your kindness and support during this critical time.
