On October 27th, Lucas was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. His case is pretty severe, and we are still tuning his insulin doses. He has a long road ahead in fine-tuning what he needs and meeting his medical needs as well. He'll need routine trips up to Springs, which is about 50 miles or so away from where we call home in Canon City. This diagnosis came out of nowhere and is something Lucas will have to deal with for the rest of his life.

I don't want to be a sob story, but I, his mother, am his primary caregiver at the moment and can no longer work until we figure out an insulin routine and he is back at a normal range glucose-wise and back in school. Dad works full-time, but it's still not enough to put food on the table and pay simple bills like rent. Anything helps, donations like pull-ups, gift cards, food items, or zero-sugar drinks... anything. We are not receiving SNAP benefits ATM due to the government shutdown as well, so anything is appreciated.

Lucas is a tough cookie and a warrior, and he has been through so much in a week.
