Support Luca’s Urgent Surgery – A Chance to Truly Heal

We’ve always tried to face life’s challenges with positivity and resilience, but the last years have tested us in new and unexpected ways.
Sometimes you find yourself asking for help not out of weakness, but out of love.
In 2022, Luca had three strokes. Two of them happened in Sara’s arms. For a few terrible moments, she thought he was gone. But Luca came back. Against all odds, he survived, and began a long, painful, miraculous recovery.
Since then, life has never been the same.
He was diagnosed with a very rare form of CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) leak.
He’s already gone through two surgeries. Both were meant to correct the issue at the root of the leak—but neither succeeded. Now, his health is again declining. His energy is low, symptoms are returning, and we can feel the shadow of those days creeping back in. If not treated, there is a high risk that all of this can happen again.
We’ve consulted several doctors worldwide, and one clinic in Switzerland has offered hope. They specialise in this condition. They’ve seen it before, and they have the tools and the experience to fix what others couldn’t.
While it is technically possible to perform the procedure in Italy, all the doctors said the same thing: the Swiss medical team has more experience and the advanced technologies that offer Luca the safest and most effective outcome.
Unfortunately, because the surgery is considered “available” in Italy, the national health system won’t cover the costs abroad—and the full cost of the surgery and hospital stay is about €26,000. That’s what we’re asking help for.
We are doing everything we can to cover the rest. We’re not asking for help with the travel, recovery, or accommodations—just this: help us make the surgery happen.
We’ve always done our best to carry our weight. We’ve built our lives from the ground up, moved to a forgotten corner of Sicily to restore something beautiful, and shared our journey with openness and gratitude.
We’ve invested every resource into this dream.
We hesitated to ask for help, then some dear friends suggested we create this page to give those who feel close to us the opportunity to support us in this difficult moment.
