Moments later, he was shot multiple times just outside his childhood home — the very place where he should have been safest — with his mother, girlfriend, and younger siblings only feet away.

In an instant, everything changed.

Lucas is now fighting for his life in the ICU. He has already endured multiple emergency surgeries, including the removal of his kidney and spleen. His arm was severely broken, with extensive muscle damage. He remains in critical condition and faces additional surgeries, with doctors still uncertain about the full extent of his recovery.

This has been a devastating, unimaginable trauma for Lucas and everyone who loves him.

No mother should have to run toward the sound of gunfire and find her child fighting to survive. No family should have to watch their loved one endure such pain. No 17-year-old should have their future rewritten in a single, violent moment.
