Lucas Meyer is my 20-year-old son, and anyone who knows him can tell you he’s one of the kindest, most compassionate people you’ll ever meet. Lucas is a strong believer whose faith and love for others shine through in everything he does. He’s faced challenges before—when he was just three years old, Lucas battled leukemia and came through with remarkable strength and hope. Now, as a young adult, he continues to inspire those around him with his unwavering faith and joyful spirit.

This year has brought new challenges for Lucas. He’s experienced two different medical events, the most recent being an emergency surgery to remove his enlarged appendix. While Lucas does have basic insurance, his high deductibles have left him with significant medical bills—a heavy burden as he’s just starting out in life. Despite these setbacks, Lucas’s faith remains strong. Before his surgery, he said, “I have tears of joy. How cool would it be if I met the Lord tonight?” His words and attitude are a testament to his remarkable spirit.
