Support Lucas' Fight for Recovery

Hi, my name is Mat and I am Lucas' baseball coach. We are trying to raise money to help take some of the burden off of Lucas' parents while he fights to get better in the ICU at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.

Lucas first became sick in April with what they thought was a cold. His symptoms began to worsen and he was taken to the emergency room with Metanuma virus, RSV, and the flu. It was then discovered that he had pneumonia which caused his lung to collapse and he was admitted into the ICU. After several weeks Lucas began to experience some improvement and released him from ICU. Overnight he spiked a 103 degree fever, loss of oxygen, and the pneumonia spread to both lungs. It was determined the antibiotics weren't working and the doctors discovered several small absesses in his lungs as well as a very large one. The fluid that had been drained from his chest tube had also returned, and after one night, Lucas was admitted back into the ICU.

On Friday May 10 he was taken into emergency surgery to remove the infections and absesses. An IV was also inserted into his heart to administer antibiotics. He is now out of surgery with clean lungs so his body can fight the blood infection and pneumonia.

He is 100% dependent on a ventilator to breath and has a long road to recovery. We are hopeful this fundraiser will help as Lucas' dad, Aaron Phillips has been unable to work to be with him in the hospital. Any donations or prayers are very much appreciated.
