Update 4.19.25
Lucas's surgery on his ribs was postponed due to the poor condition of his lung, which was discovered during the procedure. The doctors cleaned out his lung, improving his breathing. However, his blood oxygen levels dropped last week, prompting a CT scan that revealed a large pulmonary embolism in his chest and blood clots in his legs. The clots were successfully removed, and the embolism is being monitored and showing signs of improvement. Lucas has been moved out of ICU and into a regular hospital room. His recovery will be a long process to build strength for future surgical procedures. Continued prayers are appreciated.
Update 4.2.25: Lucas emerged from a successful, but extensive, 7-hour operation on his pelvis yesterday. Due to the nature of this surgery, he has been under heavy sedation for most of yesterday and today. We are all hopeful there will be no complications, but the next few days will be critical as further treatment plans will be dependent upon his recovery from this surgery.
The outpouring of love and support for Lucas and his family has been overwhelming and so appreciated. The funds raised have allowed his family to relocate to Wichita to be close to the hospital and to help cover additional costs. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to make this difficult time a little bit easier for them. We are making progress on our goal and appreciate all of the support.
Lucas Boltz and two of his children were in a devastating car crash. Thankfully, the kids are doing okay with just minor injuries, but Lucas is dealing with some pretty serious injuries that will require a lot of surgeries and rehab and the process is likely to continue for several months. Lots of folks are looking for ways to support the Boltz family right now. Their biggest need is financial help while they’re at the hospital with Lucas and supporting them through future medical appointments. All donations will go straight to the family to help cover their expenses - gas, food, lodging, etc. - in the next months while navigating the insurance processes.
Those of you who know this family also know that they are very close and take care of each other. Their immediate family has been close and is providing emotional support to them, but they could also use the care and support of their community. Please consider making a donation in any amount. Every bit will help them navigate this challenging time. Your prayers are also greatly needed and appreciated.
