*UPDATE* 12/25/25
Thank You! Because of your donations, Lt Dan has his dental/extractions TOMORROW 12/26/25. you all made it happen and we appreciate you all so much. I’ll post post-op information and photos.
Hi, my name is Paula, and I had the honor of fostering Scrat, now known as Lieutenant Dan. When he was picked up by KCK Animal Services in the Summer of 2025, he was in terrible shape—very emaciated, losing his fur and struggling with a serious upper respiratory infection. Even at 4 yrs old he was so small (intake weight 5.8 lbs), so fragile, and in so much discomfort.
Since coming to my home in mid-August, Lt Dan has started to thrive. He has food, warmth, love, and a little dog he already loves. He is now over 11 lbs. He purrs, cuddles, and is starting to learn what being an inside cat is all about. But he desperately needs dental surgery.
Without this procedure, Lt Dan will continue to suffer from pain and ongoing infections. The cost of the dental care is $800–$1,000,
I’m reaching out because the city run shelter said they could not continue to pay for his care due to financial constraints and they would have to euthanize him unless I agreed to adopt.
I want him to have the chance to live a happy, healthy life—free from pain, infections.
Please, if you can, help Lt Dan get the dental care he so desperately needs.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping Lt Dan
