Welcome to Forest Restoration in Motion. The fundraiser where we help a well deserved organization secure reliable transportation to plant thousands of native trees.
In 2014, myself and two Filipino friends of mine founded The Leyte Reforestation Project, LRP. Since then, LRP has been working on restoring local forests and training others on the art of forest restoration.
LRP is comprised of a team of staff and volunteers who serve their community by raising trees at their tree farm and using the seedlings they produce to regenerate patches of native Philippine forest throughout their local region.
LRP specializes in the development of climate resilient planting methods which earn them top honors in the global movement to restore Earth's tree canopy.
In 2023, my US based non profit, Reforest Our Future partnered with the
Leyte Reforestation Project. Over the past two years, that partnership has amounted to 20,000 native trees being planted and the development of an annual, month long training program for forestry students from the Visayas State University.
It has been recently brought to my attention that our old farm truck, after years of hauling trees and tree planters has finally given up. Our little Multi-Cab did more than its fair share of work over the years and has been repaired over and over, but alas, its time has come to an end.
In order for LRP to continue its mission of reforesting the Philippines and training the next generation of re-foresters we need your help to purchase a brand new truck!
The KIA 2500 4x4 is a great option for transporting trees and people to planting sites and back. This truck can handle the daily farm work that needs done and will be tough enough to traverse the rough mountain roads that lead to local forest and the communities who live there.
Having an efficient, reliable vehicle will be a game changer for sure and will certainly help keep forest restoration in motion. With the new KIA, LRP can succeed at planting even more trees at more locations which is a big win. Not to mention, no more suffering through breakdowns that cost valuable time that could have been used to plant even more trees.
Let’s show some love for the planet and an organization like LRP that is taking great care of it.
