Support LP Kindred's Journey in Chicago

The Clarion Ghosts are rallying to support our fellow writer LP Kindred, the Chicagoan-Angeleno speculative fiction author, editor, teaching artist, podcaster at Just Keep Writing, and cocoa-founder of Voodoonauts.

LP has moved from Los Angeles where he has lived for 17 years to Chicago to pursue finishing his BA at the University of Chicago. But several complications have made both finding an apartment and starting school immediately near impossible.

We (as his clarion community) urgently request funds to support LP find and secure an apartment, while having his basic needs met for at least four months while he works on securing a sustainable source of income, and navigates the bureaucracy of the university and educational loan system which was not built to support Black queer low income folks.

LP has been instrumental in cultivating and growing opportunities and community for marginalized writers. Often times his labor in this realm has been free.

As speculative writers we believe in practicing the best of the worlds we imagine, and a big part of that is supporting those in our community who need our support the most.

Expenses will go toward:

$1500 for first month's rent

$1500 for last month's rent

$3000 for two months rent

$2000 for healthcare, food, basic necessities

$2000 to put a dent in loans taken out.

Additional funding will go to up front school costs.
