I personally met Loyd nearly 20 years ago in my senior year of high school. I had heard for years if there was a drum instructor to go to it was Loyd - He's just the man.

I showed up to his house (before the A-Frame) for that first lesson l knew within a few moments of him playing paradiddles across the kit...this guy was from a different planet. The other thing I noticed was music wasn't just a thing he was putting on music was an integral part of his world and he just invited me into it.

Loyd helped me finish college, helped me get scholarships, he invited me to live at the A-Frame while I was detoxing from my old way of life and that’s where I really began to witness him pour hours and hours into student after student and change their lives before my eyes! When someone was hurting he would be in the hurt with them and when they would make it out on the other side, he would literally yell out of the front door “HE’S GOT IT!” Loyd showed me what it looked like to BE the church, believe in others more than they do, create community where you are, and be faithful with what you have.

I watched him take a clarinet player and turn him into a DCI snare drummer in a matter of months. Host late night recording sessions with a rapper who was just trying to get clean. Loan out gear to a students who just needed something to play at state contest. Never seem to have drumsticks because he just gave them away. Help families aquire countless full ride scholarships to prestigious music schools such as University of North Texas, Berklee School Of Music, Belmont University saving parents and students thousands and thousands of dollars on nearly every instrument!
Then there's his incredible wife Cathy and his boys Josh and Michael . All seriously some of the sweetest people I've ever met. Cathy in particular is the embodiment of someone full of faith who never stops praying and believing. When Cathy prayed over me for the first time, I felt like she literally had angels with her as she was on her knees. It blew my mind!

But here’s why I’m sharing all of this with you. Loyd recently shared with me that he has Stage 4 Metastatic Adenocarcinoma Cancer that started in his esophagus. The doctors shared with him that it was incurable.

I'm guessing that just hit you in the gut just like it hit me...or in the words of Loyd....Heavy...

Loyd and Cathy have taken this challenge head on full of faith that God will move through this season. They've started treatments and seen incredible improvements in his tumor numbers shocking the doctors! This is INCREDIBLE news!

However, the reality of their situation though is if Loyd isn't working Loyd isn't getting paid. Loyd's work is the main source of income for this home. I’ve seen him work hour after hour, lesson after lesson serving students and the music community around him for decades.

Now this is the opportunity for the same community that has been blessed with the best to show Loyd and Cathy that their love and sacrifice has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated.

These funds will go directly to their family to offset the work that he will be sacrificing to seek the treatment necessary to fight this disease and pay the astronomical medical bills that are sure to come along with the treatments they're undergoing.

I believe if you know the Loyd and his family then your lives have been changed for the better. He's sacrificed for you. He’s likely talked to you about what it looks like to sacrifice for goals, so now, will you return the favor? No donation you make is too big or too small each of them I know will be appreciated and will bless them greatly.

Loyd and Cathy...I know it will be hard to take this in just how much you are loved and appreciated, but I'm believing a big thank you is coming your way. We want to help.
