Dear friends, family and thoughtful strangers who are reading this,

This Saturday March 14th, our mom, Yolanda Cataño Chávez, was ran over by an unknown individual at a intersection for civilians. She was left to die on the side of the road after the individual fled.

Medically, she is in critical condition: she is on full life support in the ICU, and the doctors are monitoring her closely hour by hour. She suffered severe traumatic brain injury requiring emergency decompressive craniectomy surgery, she has multi-organ failure (kidneys, liver), extremely low blood pressure requiring multiple medications to keep her stable, and she may soon need dialysis for kidney support.

Our mother is the kind of person who would take the food right out of her mouth if she saw you hungry. She’s always put others first, is selfless, warm, and full of love. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to know that one reckless person’s actions have forever changed her life in an instant. She’s fighting so hard right now after a devastating accident, facing unimaginable medical battles, and we are doing everything we can to support her recovery. She is a deeply loved mother, sister, aunt, and grandma.

I truly don’t have the words to describe how incredibly kind and giving my mom has always been, or how deeply grateful we are for any help that comes our way.

I hate asking for help. I really do. But we can’t do this alone. If we all come together even small donations add up.

It could make a huge difference in covering her mounting medical bills, hospital costs, and giving her the chance to heal and come back to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for even considering helping. Your support means the world to our family during this darkest time. Every share, every donation, every prayer… it all matters.
