Alicia has been married to Haden for 12 years and they share two wonderful children Gracie (4) and Caleb (2). She is affectionately called “Lou” by her family and has been a leader ever since she was young. One of my first memories of looking up to her was watching her lead scripture in Prims. She helped care for her siblings, helped lead her high school basketball team to a state title, she excelled in school, she brings our family together, and is the rock of her own family. She leads in every avenue that she can, however right now, Lou shouldn’t have to lead.
I’ve looked up to her in many ways throughout my life; never feeling like I could give to her what she has given to me. And with that I will take my leap. My big sister was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, which will require chemotherapy starting soon and at least surgery. This will take a physical, emotional, and financial toll. Right now, Lou should have the comfort of following; following God’s will and following the hope and faith of others.
If you do not know her well, her career has led her to becoming a breast surgery physician assistant, often taking care of patients in her similar situation. Due to the nature of her career and the demands of her role, she will likely need extended time off from work. Additionally, Haden will be taking time off to help care for her and their two children.
A gofundme is comforting. And although financial support may be needed, more importantly, creating this gets attention. Attention leads to prayer. My sister faces an unknown future with potential scary outcomes and the only thing that can quiet the anxiety is prayer and God.
If you can’t give financially then give your time; spend it with God and ask for peace. Peace for Lou, peace for our parents who have to worry about their child, peace for Haden, and peace for raising two beautiful babies throughout this. Pray that there is a complete response from the chemotherapy and for a full recovery.
Please also share this campaign with your network. Together, we can show Alicia that she is not alone and that her hard work and dedication to others have not gone unnoticed. Thank you for your kindness and support!
