Our family recently learned that our beloved Poppy (Lou) has been diagnosed with splenic non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphoma. While the word “lymphoma” can sound frightening, the good news is this type of lymphoma is very treatable. With the right care, Poppy has every chance to live a long, full, and happy life.
Why We’re Asking for Help
Poppy’s doctors are recommending single-agent Rituximab, a targeted therapy that is much gentler than traditional chemotherapy. It offers fewer side effects, fewer medication interactions, and less risk to his heart — which is especially important at his age.
We will also be getting a second opinion to ensure we choose the best path forward.
While we are filled with hope and optimism about his treatment and future, the reality is that the costs of care, travel for second opinions, ongoing medications, and supportive needs are a heavy financial burden for our family.
About Poppy (Lou)
If you know Royal Palm, you know Poppy. He served as the Parks and Recreation Director for over 25 years, and he is truly the heart of youth sports in our community. Generations of kids grew up playing under his care and guidance — he has dedicated his life to building a safe, joyful, and connected community for others. Now it’s our turn to rally around him.
How Your Support Helps
Your donation will go directly toward:
• Medical bills and treatment costs not fully covered by insurance
• Travel expenses for doctor visits and second opinions
• Supportive care and recovery needs to keep him comfortable and strong
• Giving our family peace of mind so we can focus on what matters most — his health and healing
Our Hope
Poppy is the heart of our family and our community. We are committed to walking beside him every step of this journey, and with your help, we know he will come through this stronger than ever.
We are deeply grateful for any support you can offer, whether it’s through a donation, sharing this page, or simply keeping Poppy in your prayers.
Thank you for being part of his fight and our family’s story. Together, we believe in a bright and healthy future ahead.
