My grandma, Louise Cronin, heard a calling to take her children’s tiny school library and build it into a real library in which the students could learn a love of reading. She stayed up until 2 or 3am typing card catalog index cards by herself.
In 2010 we lost this inspirational woman. She was the most caring, generous, and kind woman I’ve ever met. My sister and I were devastated by the loss.
I decided to honor her memory by carrying on her legacy and creating The Louise Cronin Memorial Library Fund. The first thing the fund did was to raise money to transform my children’s tiny closet of a library into an 800 square foot library the children could thrive in and develop that same love of reading my grandma helped give the children so many years ago.
Since then, we’ve raised money to help libraries maintain their facilities and buy books.
It’s time to start raising funds again. We hope to fund new computer systems and computers, reading areas for students that include a shaded deck with comfy chairs and hammocks, a virtual library for students to use at home, and of course more books.
Please help me raise money to continue to fuel the love of reading in our central Texas libraries.
