My husband, Louis, fell in the backyard and now has an incomplete spinal cord injury. I found him in the yard calling for me to help him. I called 911, and he was transported to the local Level 1 trauma care center. He had C4-5 ACDF and Posterior C4-5 laminectomy. He is now a quadriplegic with some slight movement in his arms and legs. Recovery will be a long process. He was in critical care and then rehab for over 2 months. He is 74 years old, and I am almost 72. It is extremely difficult at my age to care for him. I have some help from family, but he needs care 24/7/365. I have him at home as we don’t believe a skilled nursing facility can give him the care and emotional support he needs to make his recovery go faster.

I am asking for money to cover round-the-clock care at home and to purchase a combo shower/commode chair, which insurance doesn’t cover.

Louis is a wonderful man with a loving family and friends, but the situation is overwhelming. Any help you can give me is welcome.
