Louie, at age 8, has been diagnosed with cancer. We adopted Louie from a friend almost 5 years ago and he has become our world. He is a loving beagle brother to Charlie Brown, a playful brother to (cat) sister Evie, and the sweetest little gentleman in our family. To anyone that knows us, our fur babies are everything to us. We take them wherever we can, making sure our adventures include them, and will do anything for them.
Louie's body has been fighting many obstacles for many years, and he continues to fight, so we're going to fight with him. He has lupus of the nails and kidney disease, so when he started feeling poorly, we suspected his kidney disease had gotten worse. We were devastated to hear the news today that he actually has a GI bleed from a cancerous mass in his small intestine. His lymph nodes are swollen, as well. Without surgery, Louie doesn't have much time. His chest x-ray is clear, so it looks like the cancer has not spread at this time. Surgery will remove any visible cancer and we may need to follow-up with an oncologist once we know more about the type of cancer and what treatments will be needed long-term.
Louie's doctors have all been so impressed at how well he's doing for how poorly his stats look on paper. We've heard over and over how sweet and adorable he is, and we know he still has so much life to live (and so much love to give). If you can contribute to Louie's care or share his story, we would be incredibly grateful.
