I moved from the UK to New York for education and my artist dreams.

Hi everyone,

My name is Lotus. I recently moved from the UK to New York after being accepted into The New School to pursue my Master’s in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship. This move isn’t just about education — it’s also about chasing my artist dreams and building a future where I can create, perform, and bloom. I am beyond grateful to have received scholarships and grants that will cover my tuition and rent during my studies.

However, I’m in urgent need of support to bridge the gap until my financial aid is paid out. Although I informed the housing office about my situation back in July, I was only told last week that emergency housing has been paused. This has left me without a place to stay as I begin classes. I am currently staying with family friends over four hours away, but commuting is not sustainable — because of the cost of travel and I have classes every day.

Since I am completely independent and have no family in the U.S. that I can rely on, I am seeking help to cover:

• Immediate housing, food, and transportation until my financial aid refund is issued (Sept 10–late September).

• Furniture and essentials to set up a stable home once I secure housing.

• My BA graduation in the UK this October, including flights and accommodation so I can celebrate this milestone.

• A small leaving party with loved ones to mark this important transition in my life.

Your support will help me, settle into New York and start my program without the added stress of constant uncertainty. My scholarships and grants make this dream possible long term, but I urgently need a bridge to get me through these next few weeks.
