Our mission at Lotus House is to break the cycle of poverty that these families are living through generation after generation. The poverty experienced in Cambodia is driven by the after effects of the horrors of the Khmer Rouge Era, which resulted in incredible trauma and a lack of education that has carried through to today.
This has impacted families all throughout Cambodia, but has especially affected those in rural areas, such as Opheakspea village where Lotus House is situated. This poverty cycle brings with it multitudes of devastation, from unemployment to poor mental health, domestic violence to alcoholism. Breaking the poverty cycle is paramount to lifting these communities into a better quality of life. Lotus House strives to do this in various ways, though our most valued and effective is the English language program. This program helps children progress into higher education and employment while building their confidence to navigate through life and strive for a future that will lift them and their families out of poverty. By bringing education to the forefront, the relentless cycle of poverty can begin to buckle and break, offering hope and opportunities to individuals, families and communities. Over 300 children are being educated with high levels of English by our trained and skillful Khmer teachers.
All funds donated to Lotus House will go towards paying teachers, electricity, school improvements and school equipment. Every dollar of your contribution will go into furthering the success of this school and it's students.
