On October 20th, tragedy struck our beloved Los Compadres Mexican Restaurant in Tallahassee, Florida. A sudden fire swept through the building, leaving behind only smoke, ashes, and heartbreak. Thankfully, no one was injured — but the restaurant that Alejandra and Jorge Martínez have lovingly built over the last 25 years is now gone.

Los Compadres wasn’t just a restaurant. It was home to generations of students, families, and locals who came together to share meals, laughter, and traditions. It was a place where you could always find warmth, good food, and community.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it appears to have started from an electrical issue. Within minutes, the roof was on fire, and everything changed. The damage is extensive — the kitchen collapsed, equipment and supplies were destroyed, and the building is unrecognizable.

Now, Alejandra and Jorge face the heartbreaking reality of rebuilding from nothing.
