Two weeks ago our family came down with a terrible bug, and it wrecked us all. A week ago Lori's health took a nosedive and she started seeming extremely confused, so I called an ambulance. She was severely hypoxic and would have drowned in the fluid in her lungs in mere hours. She was admitted to the hospital with severe pneumonia and kept in an induced coma for three days, and they brought her out Wednesday, regaining most of her mental clarity over the next couple days. She's been on oxygen and a mask or cannula, alternating saturation as the pneumonia fluctuates up and down, some days her xrays improve, some days we lose our progress and go back on pure oxygen and the mask, but we're making progress and fighting infection... but her previously untreated sleep apnea will dash any hopes we have of exiting.
The purpose of this GoFundMe is to help us cover the medical devices, doctor's appointments, medication, and lost wages while I've slept on couches and gurneys at her side through so we can keep the lights on at home. Unfortunately we don't have insurance, so it's going to be an uphill battle for her physically, and for our family financially. I'm trying to limit it to the bare essentials we'll be needing after she's discharged, and this don't even touch the emergency visit and ICU costs, i have no idea what those will be. In an effort to be fully transparent, my current itemized list is;
Oxygen concentrator 500.
Cpap machine and supplies 600.
Doc app for cpap, test, study 300.
Followup apps 150.
Medication 250.
Lost wages, bills, rent, food. 1800
I might have missed some things, but my brain has been mush through this last week as I've just been trying to keep up. We appreciate the love, the messages, the calls, and every single positive thought and prayer you've given us, and we're eternally grateful for any help you can offer. From the bottom of our beleaguered but beating hearts, thank you. For everything.
