Lori is my friend whom I consider a sister, and she has always been a source of strength and inspiration to those around her. In July 2024, Lori’s life changed dramatically when she was awakened by chest pain and found herself in the midst of a massive heart attack and heart failure. This was just the beginning of a long and arduous journey that has tested her spirit and resilience in unimaginable ways. Despite enduring tremendous pain and stress, Lori faced each new challenge with courage. In August 2024, while still recovering from heart failure, Lori’s doctors discovered her heart was barely functioning, she had a wound on her left leg that wouldn’t heal, and she was battling MRSA and double pneumonia. The wound was so severe that she needed an above-knee amputation. Even with her cardiac issues and the loss of her leg, Lori kept a positive outlook, determined to walk again with a prosthetic and return to her beloved work as a teacher and principal, where she dedicated her life to children.

Over the next year, Lori worked incredibly hard to heal and adapt, but in December 2025, she lost her right leg as well. Now, Lori is bed bound and unable to return to her profession working with kids in the small school she loved. She is facing a mountain of financial challenges, with no steady income or pension, and has begun selling her valued possessions just to keep her house and make ends meet. The medical debt is overwhelming, and she often has to choose between medication, insurance, medical bills, utilities, and her house payment. Despite her best efforts to stay positive, the situation has become more than she can handle alone.

Our support of Lori will help relieve the financial, emotional, and physical burdens she’s tried to carry by herself. Funds raised will go toward paying down her medical debt, catching up on her mortgage and utilities, keeping her health insurance, and covering basic daily expenses like food, medical equipment, and the specialized transportation she needs for frequent doctor visits.
