Our family was unexpectedly hit with the loss of my grandma Lori. Within a span of a week, we were first informed of her illness and had to process her sudden passing. This has been incredibly hard on our family as we are still working to process this difficult loss. My Grandma was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. She bravely went through radiation and, after a long fight, beat the cancer. For many years, she was healthy and continued to bring joy to our family. This year, however, she became sick again. We took her to Franciscan Hospital, where we learned her breast cancer returned. In addition, her cancer had spread to her blood and bones. The doctors told us that every single bone in her body was fractured. It was heartbreaking to see her in so much pain after all she had already overcome.

A few nights into her stay at the hospital, she began having difficulty breathing and talking. We did what we could do to keep her comfortable and able to continue fighting, but it was taking everything out of her. When the CPAP was not providing the results we were wanting, it was that day that we came to learn the severity of her condition. Surrounded by her loved ones, she passed away the following morning. Our family is devastated by her loss, and we are trying to find a way to honor her memory and give her the farewell she deserves.

We are raising funds to help cover funeral expenses for my Grandma Lori. She was full of light and loved taking care of others, working as a CNA at University Place for years.
