I am starting this fundraiser for my dear friend, Lori. She has been bravely navigating a battle with cancer, and recently, that journey took a challenging and unexpected turn.

Lori’s latest PET scan showed that while the cancer remains confined to her bones, it has spread to several new areas, including her ribs, neck, and skull. This news meant that her previous treatment plan was no longer an option, and she was suddenly faced with the daunting reality of needing much more aggressive, systemic treatments.

A Critical Breakthrough at Mayo

Determined to find the best path forward, Lori sought a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. It was a move that has already proven to be life-changing. The specialists there believe that the local treatment options originally offered would not have been effective for her. They are now recommending a completely different, specialized protocol tailored to her specific needs.

Lori is currently waiting on critical blood work to see if her cancer has mutated further, which will dictate her exact path forward. She now faces the weight of some big decisions: whether to move her full care to Mayo or coordinate their specialized plan closer to home.
