Support Lori's Fight Against Hodgkin Lymphoma

Donation protected
I am thankful that our paths have crossed here on this platform and hope you are compelled to read on. My name is Loreen Germano Jones; many know me as Lori. On March 15th, I celebrated my 60th birthday with friends and family. Just weeks afterwards, my breathing started becoming labored. Eventually, after doctors treated me for respiratory infections and later pneumonia, I requested a chest x-ray. I simply felt as if I was breathing through a coffee straw! The x-ray came back indicating some abnormal images so the my primary doctor ordered a CT. The CT revealed that I had masses in my lungs and lesions on my spleen, and possibly my liver. I also had fluid in my lungs, which later had to be drained twice, and fluid on my heart. In addition, I have a blood clot, which typically can go hand in hand with Cancer. I was immediately admitted into Duke Hospital through the ER. In less than two weeks, my first chemo/immunotherapy was administered. I will be receiving chemo every two weeks as an outpatient at Duke, and my first round will include six treatments total. Thinking back now, I did not notice my becoming more labored in breathing as I hiked and climbed football stadium bleachers at ECU games!! It is clear to me now though, that there were small symptoms lingering for over a year.

On a professional level, most of my careers have been service positions to where I help the public. I was a Math and Science teacher for almost 21 years where I took great pride to be a strong advocate for my students. My classroom was full of love and leveled, hands-on activities that provided my students with ownership of their learning. My students are still in contact with me on social media and offer me hugs whenever out in the community and they see me! My current position is with the county in which I reside. I help homeowners establish their homestead as I evaluate their soil to ensure they have a safe, working septic system and healthy drinking water. I like to be in the preliminary plans to help them plan ahead for future homesite plans or expansions. I treat my applicants as if it were my own personal journey and consider their budgets in making decisions that will suit their needs best. I have always made minimal salaries but have given largely of myself and lived modestly. I, now, need YOUR help, please, to pay medical expenses for my recent Hodgkin Lymphoma Cancer diagnosis. I would like for you to have peace of mind and know that I have always been a hard worker, working up to 3 jobs at once while also attending school to complete my college degree.

On a more personal level, I am a Mom. My twenty-five year old Son is my very best accomplishment! I am a huge animal lover, and had planned to spend retirement years helping support my animal friends in finding them safe, loving homes. I am a greeter of people and it gives me joy to make someone smile or laugh. I am genuine in my compliments and comments; I take pride in my honesty. I am recently divorced two days past this same birthday (one I did not initiate). While I have never had an ample amount of money to donate or tithe to a church, I have found other ways to give of myself to help others attempting to always set a good example for my Son to follow. I am a kind soul that thinks the human race needs to exhibit more love and kindness towards each other. I wish the mentality of “The Waltons” still existed; in my World, I like to think that is possible.

Please, grace me with your positive energy and generosity as you take action to donate any amount, large or small, today! The donation process is easy and quick. While it is hassle-free, please feel free to friend me on Facebook and ask me any questions about my progress. If you are unable to donate, sharing my campaign/story with others. I will be posting updates, pictures and videos on GoFundMe. Together, join me in this fight; WE will make a difference! I will remain positive and fight the fight. Your help will assist to cover necessary treatments, doctor consultations, and provide me with peace of mind so I may focus on my healing and shed some of the responsibility/burden off of my Son. Jacob. Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.
