I am organizing this fundraiser for Lorie to help proactively raise money for her during this difficult time of dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis.
Lorie has already begun treatment in early July which involves both radiation and chemotherapy for her. The good news is that the doctors do feel like she is cancer free! (YAY) However, she has chosen to complete these very difficult therapies to ensure that the cancer doesn't rear its ugly head into her body again in the future. She has completed her first round of radiation, and is about 12 days post her 2nd round of chemo (which will be every 21 days through September).
Lorie has impacted many people in the community through her work as a teacher, and with her contagious smile and huge heart.
As a neighbor, she was someone I knew I could count on for anything, and someone I quickly thought of more as family than a friend. That is the impression she leaves on everyone she meets; kind, funny, caring and good. She is someone who has always given more than she has received, especially to her family and her students, which are her life and which I have never had a conversation with her that didn’t involve both.
Now it is time for her to be wrapped in comfort and uplifted while she is in this time of need!
I am asking for donations to help offset the costs she and the Ryan will incur traveling to and from Lewiston daily (5 days a week) for SIX total weeks at the end of her chemo to receive her final radiation treatments. These treatments are scheduled closer to fall, at the same time Maine will start to get cool and heating fuel season will also commence.
I know she will appreciate any extra contributions we can raise to make sure not only she can afford her living expenses and the extra expenses for fuel and meals as they travel daily, but perhaps a splurge here or there to treat herself to a few new beanies or hats, clothing as she is losing weight from her treatments, and maybe a special night away when she feels up to it…because she is going to KNOCK OUT CANCER in style and deserves to treat herself for whatever her heart desires after enduring the significant physical and emotional toil this diagnosis brings.
Please join me in prayers for her as she continues this journey, and please share this fundraiser for her!
If you prefer to make a donation through mail, she would love a card too! As you can imagine, kind words and thoughts go a long way right now.
