Help Lori & Ronnie Rebuild After a Devastating House Fire
⸻
On December 6th, my Aunt Lori was on her way to my cousin Ashley’s home to spend the day with some of her grandkids when she received a devastating call: a fire had broken out in her home, starting in the garage. Thankfully, neither she nor my Uncle Ronnie were home at the time, and no one was injured.
Sadly, the damage was catastrophic. The fire and smoke destroyed nearly everything inside their home — all of their furniture, décor, kitchen items, and every picture and piece of memorabilia they’ve collected over the past 40 years together. The only salvageable items were some of their clothes, so they are now faced with starting over from scratch. At this point, it’s still unclear whether the house can be repaired or if it will be considered a total loss, but either way, they will be rebuilding almost completely from nothing.
The past few years have not been without struggle for these two. My Uncle Ronnie has faced numerous serious health issues, including multiple surgeries — among them a kidney transplant just over a year ago — and lengthy hospitalizations. These challenges took a tremendous emotional and financial toll on them. To now face a house fire and the loss of nearly everything they own is another heartbreaking setback.
We are starting this GoFundMe to help them begin the overwhelming process of rebuilding and replacing what was lost. For now, they are fortunate to have a place to stay with their daughter Ashley and her family, but the road ahead is long. Any help — big or small — means the world to them as they work to start over.
