Support Lorenzo's Brave Battle with Brain Cancer

Donation protected
Hey everyone, I’m Rachel Lem and I’m setting up this GoFundMe for Lorenzo on behalf of Rob and Jen. I’ve known the Rubalcabas for over 12 years—they’re some of the kindest, most fun people I know. They’ve always shown up for others, and now it’s our turn to show up for them.
Please read a note from them:
Hi everyone-

We’re Robert and Jenny, and we’re reaching out to share the journey our brave son, Lorenzo, has just begun. In April we received devastating news: Lorenzo has Medulloblastoma — a rare but treatable form of brain cancer that affects the cerebellum and spinal cord, most often in children. Lorenzo underwent brain surgery that went well, and he’s been recovering like a true warrior.

This week, Lorenzo starts the first phase of his treatment plan: an intensive schedule of chemotherapy and radiation. This is just the beginning of a long road ahead, filled with ongoing treatment, follow-up scans, and countless medical appointments.

Our family is facing this challenge with as much strength and hope as we can, but the reality is that this journey comes with overwhelming emotional and financial burdens.

We live an hour and a half away from the treatment center, making it a 120-mile round trip for each appointment if we cannot find lodging. We’ve applied for Ronald McDonald House housing and are currently on the waiting list. Between travel, medical expenses, time off work, and the everyday costs of caring for our family, the bills are quickly piling up.

We’re asking for any help you can offer… whether it’s a donation, a share of this page, or just keeping Lorenzo in your prayers and thoughts. Every little bit makes a difference, and your support means the world to us.

All money donations are to help cover the major costs associated with Lorenzo’s care:

* Travel expenses: Gas, wear and tear on our car, and parking quickly add up.
* Temporary housing: We’re on the waiting list for Ronald McDonald House, but if space doesn’t open up, hotel stays near the hospital may become necessary.
* Medical expenses, deductibles, medication etc.
* Lost income: Both of us are needing to be by Lorenzo’s side, but with Mom working and Dad taking care of Lorenzo, a single income is not enough and that financial gap is growing.
* Everyday essentials: From meals to unexpected emergencies, the day to day realities of life during cancer treatment are expensive.

Lorenzo has been unbelievably strong, both mentally and physically, and his courage continues to inspire us every single day. We are so proud of him and committed to standing by his side every step of the way.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of his support team.

Love,
The Rubalcaba’s
