It’s incredibly hard to put this into words. Our dear friend Loni Willey has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and our hearts are broken. Loni has always been someone who brings warmth, kindness, and strength into the lives of others. For the past ten years, she has served as President of Happy Tails Animal Rescue of Washington County, VA, dedicating herself to countless roles—transport driver, coordinator, foster home, statistics tracker, report filer and more. She has saved over 10,000 dogs and cats. She’s always the first to jump in and help whenever needed, and her compassion has touched so many lives – human and animal alike.
Two months ago, at only 56 years old, Loni received the devastating news that her cancer was now terminal. She was sent home for hospice care and, in another blow, she lost her job because of her health. She now has no income to support her family, and she also lost her retirement and life insurance coverage when her job terminated. Everything is gone, and extensive medical costs and general living expenses have depleted their little life savings left. Her husband Matt is disabled and is serving as her primary caregiver throughout her hospice journey.
Loni and Matt are not extravagant people; they simply need help to cover the basics—medical bills, house payment, health insurance, car payment and insurance, and utilities—so they can focus on comfort, dignity, and spending meaningful moments together during this remaining time. We are raising funds to help ease the financial burden they are carrying so they can focus on what matters most: love, peace, and time. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to give, sharing this page is another powerful way to help. Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and support as we come together to surround Loni and Matt Willey with love during this incredibly difficult journey.
