This recall effort did not begin because of one disagreement, one meeting, or one social media post. It began because too many parents and community members started noticing the same pattern: Questions were dismissed. Concerns were minimized. Transparency became harder and harder to obtain. Public trust continued to erode. Over time, many in this community watched repeated situations where families asked for answers and instead received delays, silence, shifting explanations, or carefully managed messaging.
People watched: concerns raised by parents go unanswered, requests for public records delayed for months, inconsistent communication from leadership, accountability applied unevenly, criticism treated differently than praise, and decisions made without restoring public confidence afterward. For many citizens, the issue is no longer about a single incident. It is about leadership. A school board exists to represent the public, earn trust, and provide oversight. When enough citizens begin to believe that transparency has broken down and accountability no longer exists, the public has a lawful right to act. That is what this effort is about. Not revenge. Not politics. Not personal attacks. Accountability.
Washington’s recall process exists for moments when citizens believe elected officials are no longer acting in the best interests of the community they serve. It is intentionally difficult, procedural, and expensive because it is meant to be serious. And this community is taking it seriously. The recall complaints are being prepared individually for all five board members because many citizens believe the current direction of leadership has failed to rebuild public trust. Whether people ultimately agree or disagree with the recall effort, one thing is undeniable: This community is demanding transparency, accountability, and a voice that can no longer be ignored.
Washington law requires that each elected official named in a recall effort be challenged individually through the court process. This means the recall effort against all five board members requires five separate filings and related administrative costs. Funds raised will be used specifically for court filing fees for each recall complaint, printing and preparation of legal documents and exhibits, copying and administrative costs related to filing, service and delivery costs where required, additional court-required filings, amendments, or responses if necessary, and public records and document preparation costs directly related to the recall process. This effort is being organized by community members and is not backed by political organizations or large donors. Transparency matters, and updates regarding filing progress and major expenses will be provided as the process moves forward. The goal is simple: To ensure the community has the opportunity to formally pursue accountability through the legal process available under Washington law.
We invite you to support this community-led effort for transparency and accountability. Your contribution will help ensure the recall process can move forward and give the community a voice. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.
