Support Londons Fight With Leukemia

Donation protected

London Simpson is a bright-eyed, adventurous, eight year old affectionately loved by her parents Jesse and Rose and six year old sister, Adelié. She is fluent in French, loves horses, swimming and reading.

Sadly this past Friday, London was diagnosed with leukemia. Her world and her parents have suddenly been filled with hard conversations and navigating treatment decisions.

The goal of this Go Fund Me page is three-fold:

(1) FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Obviously, a diagnosis of cancer creates a barrage of fears and concerns. We’ve set the initial fundraising goal of $18,000 to help meet the Simpson family’s unique out of pocket needs for a period of 4-6 months. There are as yet many unknowns surrounding London’s specific treatment plan and exactly how Jesse and Rose will need support to care for her, Adelié, and themselves. Obviously this is all new territory for the family. Her treatment will be taking place at Children’s Hospital which is an hour away from home and they anticipate at least one parent will be at the hospital 24/7 with London while they juggle work and keeping life as normal as possible for Adelié. Rose will take a leave of absence from her job as an outpatient oncology nurse to care for her daughter resulting in a loss of income for the family. Mercifully, we anticipate insurance covering a significant amount of these costs, but know as well some will be the Simpson’s responsibility. Monies given will help the family with the cost of hospital stays, commuting, co-pays, out-of-pocket medical expenses, meals away from home, house cleaning or whatever household supports ease their burden.

(2) LETTERS FOR LONDON #lettersforLondon

London is nearly 9 years old and third grader in school. She’s a wonderful age for learning about pen pals and letter writing. We’re hoping to have a sustained letter campaign to both entertain and encourage her as she undergoes treatments. #lettersforLondon is the uniting hashtag. We would love to see her flooded by letters from her school community, church community, fellow Girl Scouts, AND fellow childhood leukemia survivors. If you are a childhood cancer survivor or know someone who is would you in particular please consider writing a letter to encourage London about life on the other side of this scary illness. Please reach out if you’re interested in sending a letter—and if you know French consider sending a message to her in French too!

(3) COMMUNICATION AND UPDATES

The Simpson family is very grateful for the support they have already begun to receive from friends and family and even near strangers! Please pray for London’s complete healing and peace of mind. Pray for Jesse and Rose as they navigate decisions for her care and treatment, for Adelié’s ability to understand what’s happening and bear with the disruption to her family life, and for the family altogether as they bravely face the days ahead and look ahead to readjusting to life and “normalcy” at home together again. Jesse specifically is well aware of the need for strength and wisdom to lead his family in these new waters. If you can do nothing else please be in prayer for them.

We will do our best to keep this page updated as her treatment plan unfolds and information is made available that is appropriate to share with the public.
