Dear Friends

With your generosity, we raised $8200. From the donations, we allocated $5700 to fund Lon’s medical expenses: hospice care, hospital bills, and items for physical therapy. We plan to donate $2500 to the Best Friends Animal Society in honor of Lon. This organization provides care and love to animals in need. Your contributions have made a real impact on our lives, and we will forever be grateful.

In Loving Memory of Lon

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Lon's passing. Last night on June 16th at 12:12am in Utah, Lon peacefully departed from this world. His daughter Chelsee was by his side the entire time, offering comfort and support until the very end.

As Lon took his final breath, the song "The Thrill is Gone" by BB King played, bidding farewell to a remarkable soul who touched our lives in countless ways. Lon's spirit will forever resonate in our memories and hearts.

During this incredibly difficult time, we find solace in the support our friends and family provided. We wanted to acknowledge our deepest gratitude to everyone who donated and took the time to check up on us. Your compassion has been a source of strength for our family, and we are eternally grateful.

We will be organizing a celebration of life to honor his remarkable journey. It will likely be held in the Bay Area. Please stay tuned for further updates regarding the exact location, time, and other details.

Lon's spirit will continue to live on through each of us, resonating through the power of music and flourishing within the embrace of nature. Rest in peace, dear Lon.

Update

Dear friends, family and supporters,

We wanted to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for your incredible generosity and unwavering support in Lon's medical journey since his stroke in March.

While we wish we had more positive news to share, unfortunately his progress has been significantly slower than anticipated. Physically and mentally, Lon has made little to no progress. He is still paralyzed on the left side and experiences confusion more often than not.

While it has always been the plan to bring him back home to California, in light of these updates, we have started exploring transportation options to bring Lon back sooner than expected. We are looking into options to bring him back around Fathers Day weekend. We will keep you updated on any developments regarding this transition.

Once again, we cannot emphasize enough how grateful we are for your support. As we continue to navigate this difficult chapter, we kindly ask for your continued thoughts, prayers, and positive energy for Lon's well-being and recovery. We are truly blessed to have you on this journey with us.

Lon's Story

On March 26th, 2023, our beloved Lon suffered a severe ischemic stroke, which left him paralyzed on his entire left side and with limited mobility on the right side. Lon was quickly transported to a hospital in Utah, where he received urgent medical attention. He is now at a rehabilitation center, where he will continue to receive medical care until he is well enough to go home.

Lon was born into a Navy family and served as a naval optics engineer during the Vietnam War. He spent time in various parts of the world, including Guam, Pohnpei, and the Micronesian islands. Lon was a loving father who cherished his time with his daughters, Shawna and Chelsee, enjoyed camping, taking road trips, and had a passion for photography.

Lon made a significant change in his life when he moved from the Bay Area to a small town in Utah back in 2011. He quickly fell in love with the state's natural beauty and spent much of his time hiking, riding his ATV in the mountains, and exploring the outdoors. Lon's love for photography grew during his time in Utah, and his stunning photos were featured in a local tourism magazine. While he made a new life in Utah, Lon's daughters remained a constant presence in his life, and he cherished the time he spent with them whenever they visited.

Since his stroke, Lon's health has deteriorated rapidly, and he now requires constant medical attention, therapy appointments, and support from his family. Lon's daughters have been overseeing his medical care, but they need to relocate him back to California, so they can provide better care and support for their father.

As you can imagine, the costs associated with Lon's condition are significant, and the family needs help covering these expenses. Additionally, Lon's youngest daughter will be moving to Utah temporarily to assist Lon at the rehabilitation facility and with his legal matters. The family will also incur costs associated with relocating Lon.

We are calling on you, our friends and community, to help raise funds for Lon's medical expenses and relocation costs. Your donation will make a significant difference in Lon's life and will help him receive the medical care and support he needs during this challenging time. We appreciate any contribution you can make, no matter how small.

Thank you for your generosity and support. Any unused funds will be donated to the Best Friends Animal Society in Utah.
