On Monday, April 21st, what seemed like a normal day, our beloved mother and grandmother, Leonila Ledesma—or Lola, as we all call her—suddenly collapsed at home. She was found unresponsive by her granddaughter Dana and called 911 to immediately rush her to the ER. Doctors discovered she suffered a massive stroke, brain aneurysm, and brain bleed. She underwent emergency brain surgery (a craniotomy with decompression), and has been fighting for her life ever since.
My Lola is currently in the Surgical ICU, showing small signs of hope—slight movements, responses with her eyes and lips. The prognosis was grim, but if you know Lola, you know she’s not one to give up easily. She is a fighter!
My Lola has spent her entire life caring for others. A retired teacher, devout Catholic, and a single mother who raised her children and grandchildren with endless love and resilience—she’s always been the heart of our family. We’re doing everything we can to be by her side, but the costs of her ICU stay, surgery, medications, and long-term rehab are quickly adding up.
We’re asking for help. Anything you can give—whether it’s $5 or simply sharing this page—means the world to us. These funds will go directly toward my Lola’s care and recovery, and to helping our family stay afloat while we walk through this together.
Please, regardless of who/what you believe in, keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Godbless and thank you for supporting our family.
