Our wonderful longtime friend, Beth Powell, passed away on Oct. 13, 2025, after nearly two weeks in ICU on life support. Beth leaves behind her 86-year-old mother, Lola Powell, who has an extremely limited income and no other family to rely on. Because of Lola’s macular degeneration, she can no longer drive and has great difficulty with simple tasks such as filling out forms, navigating the internet and especially reading. Mobility is also becoming more of an issue for Lola; she lives in an upstairs condo unit, and managing the staircase is a constant challenge for her. Unfortunately, Beth was unemployed for nearly a year, and Lola is having to pay a second mortgage that Beth had to take out. Consequently, Lola will have to move out of Beth’s condo soon because she can’t afford to live there anymore. Any support you can offer Lola would be tremendously appreciated.
