Hi! We are the Bollmans. On 3/24, our lives were turned upside down when Logan fell through an attic floor. He fell 8-10 ft, belly flopping onto the cement. Logan broke 9 ribs, fractured his L2, L3, and L4 lumbar in his spine. He has experienced muscle death throughout his body, which has put him at extreme risk of blood clots and kidney complications moving forward. We aren't sure what the broken spine means as of yet, but he is HOME AND WALKING WITH A WALKER. Logan has many doctor's appointments coming up. Now that you're caught up on the scary medical stuff.
Another problem we are facing is our home is/was under DIY construction. Some of the surfaces aren't easy for Logan with his walker. Due to his injury, this project is now paused and a stress point.
Let's talk about the horrific cost of life. Logan is our family of 4's main source of income. I homeschool our deaf 15-year-old who also has autism, and I am the primary caretaker of Logan's grandma. I do clean homes part-time, but I had to step back to care for Logan. We both are experiencing a loss of income. If and when Logan gets short-term disability, they will only be paying for 20 hours a week, and it may be at a lower pay rate than what he makes. So, less than 50% of his income. The idea of asking for monetary help makes us both uneasy, but we have no idea what else to do. Please, anything helps. We are looking at him being off for months, and in all reality, he may not be able to go back to factory work. The future is so unknown for him and us right now.
