Support Logan's Move to His New Sanctuary Home

If you've been following along, you know that we've been in the process of closing down our sanctuary and rehoming our 4 large animals (our 2 steers: Rocket & Groot, and our 2 pigs: Logan & Jubilee) to another sanctuary home for the last year or so. We were so very fortunate to find a sanctuary in Alabama that offered to take all four and come pick them up! The transport was scheduled for last weekend and, while there were definitely hurdles, Rocket, Groot, and Jubilee made it onto the trailer and have since arrived at Longleaf Animal Sanctuary in Alabama. Unfortunately, Logan (our large pig) didn't make it onto the trailer. Between a vet visit that week, getting his tusk stuck in a gate, and generally being overwhelmed by the whole process, he just wasn't having it. If we've learned one thing from sanctuary life, it's that you can't convince a stressed-out 900 lbs pig to do something he doesn't want to do. As time ticked by, it became imperative to get the other animals on the road as they had an 18-hour trip ahead of them. So, we had to make the hard decision to keep Logan with us and send the other animals on their way. Rocket, Groot, and Jubilee have since arrived in Alabama and are thriving there!

(Logan's new home waiting for him)

Now the goal is to have Logan join them. Pigs are highly social animals and don't do well on their own. Logan and Jubilee have been together since they were piglets and are bonded. It's very clear to us that Logan is missing his buddy, Jubilee, since her departure. He's just not the usual happy, chatty pig we're used to. We're moving heaven and earth to get him down to Alabama as soon as possible and within the remaining time left on his Health Certificate (30-day window for travel). We've rented a livestock trailer and are planning to drive him from New York to Alabama ourselves, leaving on Sunday, June 15th. We've recruited expert advice and guidance to ensure we get him on the trailer this time around. However, this trip isn't going to be cheap. This is where we need your help. Between the trailer rental, the supplies we need for Logan to be comfortable, getting the truck tuned up before we go, and of course the fuel expenses to get there and back, we're estimating this trip will cost close to $2000 when all is said and done.

Logan & Jubilee around 6 months old

We know things are tight all around, but anything you feel compelled to contribute will help! We love our Logan and while we are going to miss him terribly, we know he has a wonderful life ahead of him in the most caring and loving home imaginable. He has a brand new pig palace, acres of land, and his own mud pit to wallow in just waiting for him! Not to mention, Jubilee is expecting him! If costs are less than expected or we raise over our goal, all of those extra funds will go directly to Longleaf Animal Sanctuary towards Logan & Jubilee's future care there.

Please share this fundraiser far and wide! We need to get Logan to his new home! Thank you!
