Help Logan survive after DOGE got rid of my AmeriCorps job
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Logan. Until recently I served as an AmeriCorps fellow working in community-level climate resilience and emergency planning. Unfortunately, last week I lost my job. My partner is in grad school full-time, and I was the sole-income earner supporting both of us, so this has left us in a stressful financial situation.
Losing my job also meant losing health insurance, and this all happened right before I am about to face some serious medical expenses including wrist surgery, cardiology testing, and necessary physical therapy for recovery post-op. These are essential for my health, but without a steady income, covering these costs is daunting.
Due to these unforeseen circumstances, we now are also planning to move in early June instead of late August so my partner can pursue his career in Social Work and step into a larger role on his disabled brother's care team, which adds another layer of financial pressure. The moving costs, including first month's rent and security deposit, are significant. We also need to consider the logistics of moving ourselves, our belongings, and our three cats across the state.
To make things even harder, I was disowned by most of my family right before graduating college a little over a year-ago for being queer and trans, so I can't turn to them for any support. This isn't an easy ask, I know how much is going on in the world and that everyone is struggling these days. Any support during this difficult time would be immensely appreciated and would help us manage these immediate financial challenges. Every donation will go directly toward covering my surgery, recovery, and the costs of moving and staying afloat as we navigate this uncertainty. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for any support you are able to give-even just kind words. It all matters more than you know.
