Logan is a single, 26 year old mom of the cutest little boy ever. But a little over 2 months ago, she became extremely ill, almost septic, with a horrible UTI. She was put on strong antibiotics in the hospital. It took her about 2 1/2 weeks to be able to get up and functioning again. That only lasted 2 weeks before she became extremely ill again. This time, we believed it was the flu since her little sister just tested positive for it. She agreed to stay at her mom's house where her mom could take care of her and her sick little sister at the same time until they could get over the flu. After a week, her little sister got better, but Logan didn't. In fact, she got worse. She was stubborn at first and was determined to get better without any more doctor visits. But when she developed a rash on her body along with her skin starting to peel on her ears and on her hands, she threw in the towel and let her mom take her to urgent care. She tested negative for every test they had. They told her they had no idea what was going on but one thing they did know for sure was that she needed to go straight to the emergency room at the hospital.
That was over two weeks ago. The hospital admitted her and diagnosed her initially with C-Diff. A horrible bacterial infection she contracted from the antibiotics she was on when she had the UTI. Since then, her white blood cell count has dropped to 0.7 and has continued to see-sawing between 0.7-1.6. When you have an infection, your white blood cell count is supposed to go high like 11 - 13. Hers did the opposite. She has the same immunity system that a chemo patient has and they don't know why yet. They have guessed but no sure answers. She has sepsis which means the infection is in her bloodstream. They cleared it after the first 7 days and then on day 9 they said she had sepsis again. Then she developed another secondary viral infection of some sort. Then a yeast infection. On top of all of this, the left side of her face has become paralyzed. They said it wasn't Bell's Palsy and now they are saying it might be Bell's Palsy. Her lymph nodes are so enlarged everywhere. Now, the IV in her right arm has blown her vein and now her arm is so infected that they might have to do surgery on it to drain it.
She has maintained such a positive attitude through all of this. She trusts fully in God and His plan. She accepts that this is part of her story and chooses to look at the bright side of it all. She has taught me so much through this experience. Unfortunately, she is having trouble with insurance. She is working on getting insurance now because she aged out of her last insurance. We hope that it will be retroactive. We don't know if it will or not. On top of that, she has long road to recovery ahead of her no matter what. She needs help with living expenses until she can get her strength back. So, if there is any way you could share some spare change to help her out with her bills or living expenses, I know she would really appreciate it. So would I. Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to her story.
