I write this with humility as it is hard for me to send this as a kind ask to all of you for your generosity:

Aloha friends it's Lofa,

At the end of January, I experienced a life-altering event when I suffered a heart attack due to 100% blockage. This led to emergency quadruple bypass open heart surgery on January 29th. During my month-long hospital stay, additional complications arose as I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, requiring two cardioversions to stabilize my heart rhythm.

When I thought the worst was behind me, I faced another challenge. Shortly after being discharged, I returned to the ER with symptoms of a dead left foot. Further tests revealed blood clots in multiple areas including behind my left knee, right lung, and kidney. Although doctors proposed surgery on my leg, the risks outweigh the benefits, leaving me with another week in the hospital.

The road to recovery has been long and arduous. I've been advised not to work during my eight-week recovery period to prevent complications with the wires used to reconnect my ribs during surgery. While facing these health battles, I've also been dealt a blow financially. I made the bold decision to pursue my passion for designer toys last year, leaving my previous job. However, this month I received notice that my health insurance coverage will be terminated by the State of Hawai’i on May 31, 2024.

Your support is now more crucial than ever. Donations will be used to cover medical expenses, health insurance, and prescription drugs. Additionally, I aim to pay off the four months of office rent ($3,000) for the period I was physically unable to work.

I'm incredibly grateful for the support and belief many of you have shown me throughout this journey. As I embark on this second chance at life, I remain determined to push forward and overcome these challenges.
