Hi, we are a family of four from Ellensburg, Washington, and we're reaching out during one of the most difficult moments of our lives.
For over a decade, we've proudly owned and operated a local tattoo shop in Ellensburg. Like many small businesses, COVID hit us hard, but we never gave up. Over the past year, we poured everything we had into rebuilding and improving our shop. We added body piercing services, invested in high-quality jewelry, and were just 75% done with a full remodel when our world was turned upside down.
We received a sudden 30-day notice to vacate the home we've lived in for more than ten years—a home we believed we would eventually own.
It was originally purchased for my husband when he started college, and though the deed was never transferred to him before his grandfather passed away, we kept faith. We paid market rent, maintained the home, and continued to support the family members who owned the property. They reassured us we were secure, that we would never be kicked out.
We believed them. So we kept investing in our lives—our business, our children, and our future. We even bought a new washing machine the same day we got the notice to leave.
Now, with two young kids, a business in mid-recovery, and no place to call home, we're facing a devastating reality. We simply don't have the funds to put a down payment on the house or secure a new rental in this market.
- our dream is to purchase a space downtown that would allow us to live and work in the same building. That would enable us to put in the long hours without needing someone to watch the kids. We don’t have much of a support group as far as people who would watch our kids.
