My Story

Hi, my name is Ricardo Rodriguez. I am twenty two years old and my dream is to become a movie director. Growing up I always struggled to find a way to express myself, I was completely lost on what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. It wasn't until High School that I decided to take a theater class, I knew I was shy and I wanted to break out of my shell and I believed that maybe I could become less shy by joining the theater class. I went into the class blindly and I fell in love with acting and took theater class for the remainder of High School. With my love of acting, came the dream to become a movie actor. I believed that is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. When the pandemic hit I had so much time to think, I started writing as a form of therapy. Through the time I spent in isolation, I found my passion for storytelling. My dad passed me his love of movies, so I began writing screenplays for myself. Now I want to do more with my passion.In the last year, I wrote and directed my first ever feature film and posted it to YouTube. My first film was a passion project I wrote, directed, edited, acted in, and posted to YouTube. That experience taught me a lot about the art of making movies, and I am ready to make my next one and make it the best I can. I have wrote my second screenplay for a film as well as casted for it. I used the website Backstage to find local actors around the Bay Area to help me with this project. Now I need your help to bring this film to life.

The Movie

The film is a drama, romance that follows Henry (age 20) with the dream of becoming a professional YouTube influencer. He works at a Japanese restaurant and tries to save money for his future. Henry is going through his first breakup, everyone in his life has told him to move on but Henry is stubborn and continues to feel sorry for himself. When he is at the lowest in his life, feeling lost and depressed, he meets a new coworker named Army. When Army makes the effort to talk to Henry and get to know him, Henry takes an interest in Army and he befriends her. As their friendship continues to spark, Henry begins to fall in love with Army, Henry is scared that if he reveals his feeling to Army that it might ruin their friendship. So Henry decides to keep his feelings to himself because he doesn't want to lose what he has with Army but eventually, Henry will reach his breaking point.

The Goal

Every donation is appreciated, every donation goes to buying camera equipment such as lighting, and sound. Most importantly helping everyone who is involved in the making of the movie such as the local actors and crew members. As well as distribution to get the movie to be shown in the San Francisco Film Festival of 2026, to show the movie to the community. Regardless of the amount that is donated, your support for helping students create art is much appreciated.
