My name is Marisol Luna, I am a young entrepreneur that owns D Luna Mexican Store right on West Tomichi in Gunnison, Colorado. I have resided in Gunnison ever since 2010, the previous owner of the store was going to close it down, thinking of the Hispanic community needs, I decided to take over.

In 2015, I took ownership of the only local Mexican store in town, the previous owner had started it in 2005 serving mostly the local Hispanic families.

Starting off the new year, I was notified that I would have to move my business due to the deteriorating structure of the building. The building was built in 1880, ever since I moved the D Luna to the current building in 2015, we have invested thousands on the plumbing, lights, and modifications of the inside.

Shortly after an inspection, the city warned that it was no longer safe to keep my store, employees, family and customers there.

When receiving the short notice, as a small business, I was not prepared to move everything in a month. With this move comes a lot of expenses and worries of finding a new building. Worried about not finding a space, this made me worried for our community. D Luna serves a number of different backgrounds, it brings a little of their culture to their new home in Gunnison, Colorado. We take pride in offering different types Mexican food products, artisanal products and money transfer services. All the services offered are a necessity for our Hispanic community, especially those who work to support their families from a different country.

We are asking for your support today to ease the move and to be able to offer our services as soon as possible. This move will help deliver a better services in a safe environment for everyone who walks through our door.
