Monarch Media was born out of a deep commitment to serve the people of Potter and McKean Counties with timely, honest, and accessible news. After a 15-year career as a veterinary technician was cut short by lupus, I turned to professional writing to support my three children as a single mother. My husband, Joe Cumby, and I launched Monarch Media when we realized the community needed more immediate, hyperlocal news than the weekly paper could provide. The response has been incredible—our website, Monarchmedia100.com, received over 20,000 views in its first week, and our Facebook page keeps neighbors connected to the latest updates.
We cover everything from breaking news like road closures, fires, and accidents, to uplifting stories about local events, new businesses, and visiting artists. One of my proudest moments was covering Daniel and Lydia Ho’s visit, where they inspired local children—including my own sons—through music and creativity. These stories show how much our community values connection and information, and we’re honored to be a trusted source.
But keeping Monarch Media running is expensive. Our equipment is outdated or borrowed, and we face ongoing costs for technology, website maintenance, travel, and basic living expenses. We’re committed to providing free, unbiased news that everyone can access, regardless of income. In an area where local businesses are also struggling, we’re turning to our community for support. Your donation will help us continue to deliver honest reporting, keep our neighbors informed, and build a stronger, more connected community. Thank you for believing in local news and helping us keep Monarch Media going strong.
