Support Local Businesses Devastated by Hurricane Helene

"Hello, my name is Captain Bobby, I lam a Florida resident and I run Island Hoppers Boat Tours on Anna Maria Island. Many of you have seen the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, but what you might not know are the personal stories behind it. The storm has left my business—and others in our community—unable to operate for at least the next three months, leaving my hardworking employees without an income during this difficult time. It breaks my heart that I can’t support them financially, which is why I’m reaching out for help.
It's not just my business that's struggling. I know many are, but I would like to mention three other beloved local businesses that have been hit hard as well. Annie’s Bait and Tackle, a cornerstone of Cortez Village since 1911, has been wiped out. Not only has this impacted the owner, Bruce Shearer, but also the local fishermen and boaters who rely on them for fuel and live bait. The memorabilia they've collected for over 40 years is gone, but with your help, they can begin to rebuild and start anew.
Terri Marcou, the owner of Sunshine Consigner, ran her business from home and lost everything to the flood. Terri is a kindhearted woman who dedicates herself to helping the elderly in her neighborhood, always ready to lend a hand. Now, she needs our support.
And then there’s Kadee Le, who’s been an island resident for 18 years and poured her heart into her salon, working long hours to keep it running. She too has lost everything.
Bruce, Terri and Kadee are personal friends of mine. Watching these businesses, built on years of hard work and passion, be destroyed overnight is heartbreaking. My goal is to help relieve some of the financial burden for myself and the others affected. The money raised will be distributed to the businesses mention to assist with purchasing new equipment, supplies and help the employees afford necessities while they are out of work. I hope you’ll consider joining me in giving back what’s been lost and helping our community start to heal. Your compassion and support mean the world to us."
