Support Lloyd's Heart Surgery Recovery

February 22, 2025 UPDATE: After nine long days in the hospital, Lloyd is finally home once again and is now starting the journey towards recovery with the help of his loving wife Adrian. It will be a harder journey than originally anticipated. They knew from the start the major heart surgery recovery would be several months towards recovery, but none of us even anticipated that the major complications of an open airway resulting from injured vocal cords could happen. But it did and now recovery will be longer and harder. Lloyd had to have a feeding tube placed since anything swallowed went directly to his lungs causing pneumonia. Now even more doctors and therapies will be needed to get back to normal. The ENT doctor wants to wait up to nine months to see if the vocal cords could repair on their own. We’re sure hoping that will be the case. In the meantime we all wait and pray. Lloyd and Adrian are extremely grateful to the many wonderful people who are helping them on this journey. As always, your donations, prayers and positive thoughts are much much appreciated. My heart and thanks go to Adrian .. she’s a true angel caring for Lloyd, their little girl and Adrian’s mom who lives with them and is battling cancer. She’s got a full plate for sure and deserves praise for all she’s doing.

February 15, 2025 UPDATE: The repair of Lloyd’s heart was successful, but now there is a totally unexpected complication from the intubation. He was intubated a long time for the surgery and his vocal cords were damaged .. they may be paralyzed .. the ENT dr was called in but the swelling in his throat was too much to do the complete endoscopy. Lloyd can’t talk right now but the biggest fear is the fear of aspiration to his lungs which could cause pneumonia. To lessen his chances of getting pneumonia he’s been put on a puréed diet with thickened liquids only .. the only upside to this is Lloyd said he didn’t like the hospital food anyway so if he can get the needed nutrition safely it’s okay. After the swelling in his throat has gone down the ENT dr will perform an endoscopy so we can know what has happened and go from there.

He continues to be in the ICU .. the support and prayers he and his family have received are SO appreciated.

If you feel inclined to donate to Lloyd and Adrian they can sure use it during the recovery period ahead. Any and all prayers are also needed. Thanks so much … Lloyd’s mom

My son was born with a heart defect. He got through his first open-heart surgery in 2005, but as time went on, he needed another much more complicated heart surgery on February 11, 2025, to once again replace the valves in his heart and to repair an aneurysm, which was like a ticking time bomb just waiting to burst at any unknown time.

Lloyd and Adrian met in 2010 and shortly thereafter moved to Oklahoma to care for Adrian’s aging grandmother. While there, Adrian’s sister was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Adrian was by her side, and the fight was hard. Her beautiful sister passed away five years after her diagnosis on the same day their grandmother passed. It was a very sad time, but Lloyd and Adrian carried on. They both wanted children, but it didn’t seem to be in God’s plan. Adrian miraculously got pregnant in 2019, but as fate would have it, that baby was lost. Time marched on, and their miracle little girl came into the world healthy and full of life in 2020. Lloyd was in his 50s and Adrian in her 40s, so their joy with a healthy baby was beyond grateful.

Time marched on, and in 2024 Adrian’s mother came down with cancer, and once again Adrian was the caregiver, giving her all to help her mom. As the funds slowly disappeared, it became necessary to let Adrian’s mom move in with them. Their house was too small, so they made the decision to rent a larger house and sell their home. They all moved into the larger rental home and waited and prayed for their house to sell. Months passed, low-ball offers had to be refused, and as a last resort, they made the decision to move back into the smaller house. It was cramped but livable.

While all this was happening, Lloyd was the major breadwinner for his household and continued to see his cardiologists for necessary care. In December, the heart doctors determined that if he didn’t get surgery soon, it may be too late. The aneurysm in his heart could burst at any time without warning.

Lloyd got through the long and complicated surgery and is now in the ICU for an unknown amount of time. Recovery is going to be long—two months, six months, we don’t know—but the bills keep coming in, and their income is now reduced to where it’s questionable if it will be enough to survive and keep a safe place for all of them. Adrian’s mom is still battling cancer, and now Lloyd is facing a long recovery process. And that’s why I’ve created this GoFundMe for them. They truly are a beautiful family who have faced many challenges. As Lloyd’s mom, we help all we can, but funds are limited.

If you feel inclined to help them stay on their feet, any donations you make here will go directly to them. Any and all help and prayers are graciously appreciated.
