Help Lloyd Get Back on His Feet
Life has a way of hitting all at once, and right now, Lloyd is facing one of the hardest stretches anyone could endure. After recently losing his mother to cancer, he’s now dealing with a series of overwhelming crises — both financially and emotionally.
Lloyd is a U.S. Army veteran who served for eight years, including five years deployed overseas in three different active combat zones. Now a 100% disabled veteran, he has spent years managing PTSD and severe panic attacks while doing his best to push forward. But right now, everything is piling up at once.
His only vehicle, a 4WD 2001 Dodge Ram, which he relies on for getting food and supplies in the brutal Northern Minnesota arctic-like climate, where temperatures regularly drop to -20°F at night and the nearest town is over 50 miles away, is in need of major repairs. Both front and rear axles leak fluid, which caused both differentials to lock up, subsequently damaging the transfer case as well — leaving him completely stranded with no Uber or grocery delivery services available in such a remote area. The axle tubes need to be welded to the differential housings (a very labor-intensive job) and all of the internal gears and axle shafts need to be completely replaced (very expensive).
On top of that, his home heating system has failed while still very much in the middle of freezing temperatures just a few miles from the Canada border, and when he tried to rely on his backup heat source, a gas-powered fireplace that had only been used briefly a handful of times, it turned out to be leaking carbon monoxide and set off all of the detectors in the house. He had to shut it off for safety, leaving him with no way to heat his home.
To make matters worse, a plumbing issue has added yet another unexpected repair.
Lloyd isn’t the type to ask for help, but after everything he’s been through, this is more than anyone should have to handle alone. Any contribution — big or small — would make a difference in helping him get back on his feet. And if you can’t donate, simply sharing this fundraiser would mean the world.
All donations will go directly to Lloyd and will be used solely for the repair of his vehicle and home heating systems. Thank you for taking the time to read and for any kindness you can send his way.
