On Monday, April 28th, Lizzy, a 25-year-old professional horse trainer, mounted a client's horse with known behavioral issues and suffered a traumatic fall resulting in a compound fracture to her right leg. On this day at ~1:30 PM, the horse tried to bolt out of the ring during a casual ride. When Lizzy tried to correct the horse, it reared and threw itself backward, landing on Lizzy’s right leg. Lizzy did not have her phone to call for help. We are fortunate that Lizzy’s neighbors heard her yelling and got her the medical attention that she needed. Words cannot express how grateful we are that Lizzy is now safe and on the road to recovery. As equestrians, we know that we take a risk every single day that we partake in the sport that we love, even on the gentlest of horses. Today, Lizzy is experiencing the burden of that risk. 

Who is Lizzy Knight? 

For those of you who do not know her, she is a devoted equestrian, horse/cat fanatic, ambitious businesswoman, entertaining line dancer, and an exceptionally caring friend/family member. If you’re in need, Lizzy is the one to drop everything to come to the rescue. We need more Lizzys in this world. 

From a professional standpoint, Lizzy is the owner of Fox Trot Equestrian, a horse training business specializing in Eventing and Dressage. Her approach is rooted in patience and compassion, with a particular focus on rehabilitating misunderstood or troubled horses. In 2021, Lizzy made the courageous decision to move from Canada to the US to allow her training program to grow. With any new business, she has been working tirelessly to make her dream become a reality.
