For those of you that know Liz, you already know all of this - but for those who don't, Liz Sharp is one of the most loving, caring, and compassionate people I've ever known. She will give the shirt off her back for those that she loves and wouldn't think twice about doing whatever she can to help.
Over the past six years, Liz has faced an incredibly difficult journey. In March 2019, she lost her mother to triple negative breast cancer caused by a BRCA1 gene mutation; an aggressive form of cancer that leaves very few treatment options. In November 2024, Liz suffered another heartbreaking and unexpected loss with the passing of her father.
Following her mother’s diagnosis and passing, Liz made the courageous decision to undergo genetic testing, where she learned she, too, carries the BRCA1 gene mutation. This places her at a significantly elevated risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer; including the same form of triple negative breast cancer that took her mother’s life.
Despite all that she has gone through, she has continued to persevere and build an incredible career and is in the beginning stages of starting her own family with the love of her life, Tanner.
This August, Liz and Tanner will be getting married, and a month later she will begin medical treatment to halt the risk of breast cancer through two major surgeries, first major surgery being a full Double Mastectomy.
Due to Texas state laws, Liz is only able to collect disability from the state after three weeks of recovery, with no backpay provided. With the two surgeries, she will lose out on a total of 6+ weeks without any pay as she lays in bed and recovers from the two surgeries.
That's where I hope we can all come together and help her.
I've created this GoFundMe to attempt to help make up for the loss of her pay so while she recovers from these surgeries, she doesn't have to worry about the financial stress of missing work and can just focus on healing correctly and efficiently.
I know times are hard, but if you are in a place to donate anything, it would mean the world to our family to be able to help Liz during this trial in her life. If you can't, that's okay.
If nothing else, please pray for Liz and Tanner as they go through this first challenge as newly married husband and wife.
