Support Liz's Fight Against CIDP
Donation protected
Liz is our niece and she has been going through a difficult and uncertain time.
Liz enjoys hiking, spending time with family and turning her house into a home with her daughter & partner. During the fall of 2024, her life began to change. Liz began experiencing weakness and balance issues, made numerous trips to the ER for testing and hope of treatment only to leave without any answers. Her symptoms continued to worsen and life was turned upside down. She was finally diagnosed with CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy), and Paranodopathy an autoimmune condition where the body attacks its own nerves. Liz has lost the ability to move her legs, and experiences weakness in her arms and face as well.
In January, Liz finally got an appointment with a neurologist who admitted her to the hospital for testing. She has spent the past month and a half between the hospital and rehabilitation center and is still undergoing intensive treatment with hopes to improve. Unfortunately, despite trying several treatments, we have not yet seen the results she needs. One treatment did not work as expected, and she was sent back to the hospital for more care. Two new treatments have been given however, they will take time to show if they’re working.
During this time, Liz has been unable to work, and the financial strain is overwhelming. With medical bills, co-pays, daily living expenses, mortgage payments, and childcare, her family is struggling to get by. She misses being at home with her daughter, partner and pets, and dreams of the day she can return home to them.
Liz's partner has been caring for her daughter, visiting at every opportunity and reinforcing the exercises and therapies.
Liz's condition will take months, maybe even years, for her to recover from, and there’s a 50% chance of relapse. She will be under the care of a neuromuscular medicine doctor for the rest of her life.
The financial goal may change as we realize the full extent of the financial need. Any donation—large or small—will help ease some of the financial burden Liz is facing. Even if you can’t contribute financially, please consider sharing this with others. Your support means the world to Liz and our family as we navigate this incredibly challenging time.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity, we are incredibly grateful for every bit of help Liz receives.
With love and gratitude,
Liz & her family ❤️
